Pull the Alternator
Pull the A/C Compressor and lines
Pull the P/S
Pull the cast iron bracket off the water pump. [This would also be a good time to do water pump. [I had to do it because mine was leaking a gallon every 20 miles] MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SPECIAL BOLTS YOU WILL BREAK ONE AND BE SCREWED] I'd even get them if you're just pulling the bracket and not the water pump too. I sheared two of them pulling the bracket.
Cut the bracket so it looks like this:
Reinstall bracket [and water pump if you did it]
Pull alt pully off and put 5/8" [ID] washer behind pulley. [They're about 3mm thick from any hardware store] Reinstall pulley.
On the right arm of the alt [where it bolts to the bracket] you'll see a piece of metal that's pressed into the alt. Use a socket and a vice to push the piece of metal flush. [You'll see what I mean if you try to put the alt on the bracket without doing this.
Install Alternator - Belt is 10x950
Install P/S
You're done!
Did this yesterday because of the aforementioned water pump problem. Thought I had an electric saw to cut bracket. No luck. Cut bracket with hacksaw. Never EVER again.
Notes: I've heard if you install the inner crank pulley from a G60 or 8v w/o A/C you'll get a pulley that fits the 10x belt better. I've had no problems thus far though.
